GitHub Contribution Challenge 2024

On February 23, 2024, the Data Science Department at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology organized an event aimed at introducing students to GitHub and enhancing their skills in version control and collaboration. The event was divided into two parts. The first half, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, featured a comprehensive session led by speaker Mayank Pant (Student – Data Science Department), covering the basics of GitHub, including concepts such as pushing, merging, and other essential functionalities.

Following the introductory session, the event transitioned into a challenge round from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Participants were provided with repositories and tasked with solving problems, followed by submitting pull requests. This practical segment aimed to reinforce the concepts learned earlier and allowed participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge in a real-world scenario.

The event received significant engagement, with a total of 41 forks created. After careful evaluation, the winners of the challenge were announced as Utkarsh Gupta (Data Science Department) scoring the highest points, followed by Vaidik Vedant (AIML Department) and Sachin Kumar (AIML Department) as first and second runners-up, respectively. Overall, the event proved to be a resounding success, providing valuable learning opportunities and fostering active participation among the students.
