About the course
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Program is committed to provide the educational and corporate experiences required for professional competence. Approved by AICTE, Min. of HRD, Govt. of India. The two-year Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Business Management prepares a student for a career in industry and services. The programme facilitates learning in theory and practice of different functional areas of Management and to equip the students with an integrated approach to management function and managerial skills.
The courses are designed to develop –Conceptual and analytical competence.
- Global vision and understanding.
- Span of knowledge in various functional area of Management.
- Able to act strategically at local, national and global levels.
- Interpersonal and multi cultural of teamwork competencies.
- Communication and presentation competencies.
- An attitude of ethical and legal non-controversial business practices.
Towards these objectives and to suit the contents of each course, a variety of teaching methodologies, such as case studies, role-play, problem solving exercises, group discussion, computer simulation games, audio-visuals, are used in the programme.
The programme requirements include 34 full-credit courses (23 core courses and 11 elective courses), a Summer Project and compulsory participation in Team Building Programmes.
Summer Project is a compulsory course. A student is required to do a summer project on any aspect of Business Management in the industry for eight to ten weeks at the end of the first year
Leadership &Team Building– a Non-credit Programme.
A three-day team building programme is compulsory for the students. The objective of the programme is to develop leadership and team work through adventure activities (The programme includes overnight camping in tents.)
3. Human Resource Management
The total number of credits for the core courses are 67 (Sixty-Seven) credits. The Term-wise distribution of courses in the first year shall be 6-7-6. The remaining four core courses shall be scheduled in the second year. During the second year, in addition to the four core courses, a student is required to do 11 (eleven) elective courses. The total workload for a student in any term will not exceed 7 courses (20 credits).
Out of the 11 electives in the PGDM programme, a student is free to choose electives from any area. However, to fulfill the requirement of area(s) of specialization, a student is required to do an equivalent of five full credit electives (which could be in the form of full credit or half credit) in an area listed below:
A student can opt for a maximum of two areas only. A few elective courses are common to more than one area. Therefore, such electives will be counted in one area only as per the choice of the student.
The elective courses listed in this booklet are the total list of approved electives for the Programme. The list of electives to be offered in a particular term would be decided by the respective areas and communicated from time to time.
