About the course
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is offering the Master's degree programme in VLSI Design from session 2008-09, with an intake of 18 students. The duration of the M.Tech program is of two years of four semesters with first, second and third semesters are entirely course work oriented and fourth semester involves Dissertation (THESIS) work.
Most of the student of Electronics Engineering are exposed to Integrated Circuits at a very basic level, involving SSI circuits like logic gates or MSI circuit like Multiplexer, parity encoder etc. But there is a lot bigger world out there involving miniaturization at levels so great, that a micrometer and a microsecond are literally considered huge! This is the world of VLSI- Very Large Scale Integration. The aim of the course is trying to introduce the possibilities and the work involved in this field.
VLSI design has been a subject of interest in recent years as evident from the surge of related activities in the engineering and research community. At NIET we have state of art Laboratory to impart best training to post graduate students in VLSI technology. The Students are encouraged to take part in research activities sponsored by various government organizations being carried out at NIET.
