About the course


Information Technology builds tools to manipulate, organize, transmit, and store Information in Digital form. It amplifies Brainpower in a way analogous to that in which the Nineteenth Century Industrial Revolution's Technology of Steam Engines, Metallurgy and Giant Power Tools multiplied muscle power. Information Technology builds the most all-purpose tools ever, Tools for thought. The future belongs to knowledge based Industries. Strength of a Country depends upon the best use of Information Technology in all walks of life. To train the young Brains in this field of Engineering, the Department of Information Technology was started in the year 2001 with an intake of 60. The Department was bifurcated from Computer Science & Engg.


Since its inception it is training the students in the field of Information and Technology, Software Engineering. Focus is on for overall personality developments of the individuals and providing Industrial orientation to them. One Batch of students have already found their carriers in the big companies, like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS, Motorola to name few. This is the 2nd year, Department is working towards imparting the latest knowledge and training the young brains to make them Quality Engineers who will be readily absorbed by the Industries. Sixteen young staff members are putting their thoughts together in this process.


The course covers Computer programming, Client server development, Networking, Computer Organization, Data structure, CG, Algorithms. The department having following labs:

MIS/IT Infrastructure Lab

Visual Arts Computer Lab

Computer Organization Lab


Vision To achieve excellent standards of quality education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technologies thereby contributing to the technological solutions that will serve as a valuable resource in terms of producing quality IT professionals and researchers for IT industry and society.

M1: To impart the quality, cutting-edge educational experiences to students for skill development & encourage a spirit of enterprise and develop impactful synergies among various stakeholders of education system to provide high quality education.

M2: To produce globally competent, qualified IT professionals and to inculcate the spirit of moral values to make the students good citizens of India by providing a rigorous training to the students. M3: To Inculcate, apply and spread innovative ideas by collaborating with relevant industries and R&D labs through focused research groups.

M4: To create and disseminate knowledge for the better understanding of Information Technology. The ultimate aim is to make the graduates highly competent and talented professional.

Head of the Department (Information Technology)



Dr Somesh Kumar presently spearheads the department. He has completed his MCA in 2000, ME (CS&E) in 2006, PhD (CS) in 2011. Since 2000, he has been in teaching profession and is involved in various academic activities like teaching computer science, information science related subjects and has also guided several real time projects, which have been recognized both in the international and national level.
