He was awarded Common-Wealth scholarship in 1972 and completed his Phd degree from University of Alberta, Canada in 1975, where in he also served as PDF for some time. He subsequently taught at University of Mosul, Iraq teaching courses in Hydrology and irrigation engineering from 1977 to 1980, ultimately returned back and worked as Associate Professor at BITS Pilani in 1980-81.
He was then selected as Professor and Head Civil Engineering department at KNIT, Sultanpur. In 1987 he was selected as Principal of M.M.M. Engineering College Gorakhpur from where he finally retired in the year 2000. Dr. Pande has held many assignments abroad; he was attached to the Insitute of Water Problem Moscow working on Hydrological problems and ground water as visiting scientist from INSA in 1990. He also remained Principal of M.N.R. Engineering college, Allahabad for about six months in 1992.
He served at University of Arbaminch, Ethiopia for six years in two terms out of which the last four years were after his retirement. At Ethiopia he was responsible for starting Post graduate program in Hydropower Engineering and Irrigation. He is widely traveled and has attended many Conferences in India and abroad. He has authored 77 research publications with bulk of it devoted to water resources engineering, has guided six Ph.D theses, and authored a book on Irrigation and water Power Engineering. He is a life member of many professional societies. He is also a member of Board of Governors of many prestigious organizations including of the prestigious National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee.
Dr Pande B B Lal is presently working as Director General at Noida Institute of Technology, Greater Noida.
He is president of Takniki shikshak Manch which is a group of dedicated teachers from various colleges working for the creative development of teaching faculty and students. He is an active member of the Rotary club of Green Greater Noida and has now joined the Greno family. He is in the various committees of many sister colleges and is also associated with Gautam Budh University.
